The Measurement Maze: national quality indicators in the NHS

The Health Foundation has just published a briefing on NHS national quality measures which we helped to research.

The Measurement Maze maps national quality measures for three clinical areas (breast cancer, renal care, children and young people’s mental health), and then explores the awareness and use of those indicators by clinical teams.

We conducted the 52 face-to-face interviews that comprised the qualitative fieldwork for this research, speaking to clinical directors, consultants, junior doctors, nurses, administrative staff and non-clinical managers.
